Our educational approach

I speak French from the first lesson!

From the very beginning, our teachers immerse you in the French language and focus on oral competency and prononciation. Each lesson plans are selected according to a progressive difficulty in order to allow learners to easily speak in French and integrate the language structures.

I learn a foreign language – I discover a culture!

Each of our students has access to a digital library Culturethèque. More than 230 000 documents (audio, videos, BD, magazines, etc…) are available to pursue the francophone adventure beyond the classroom!

I learn French in optimum conditions!

Students are taught in small groups to ensure high quality exchanges. Modern and well equipped classrooms (computers, video projector) ensure the use of motivating audio-visual media. Children's lessons are given in a dedicated space suitable for the little ones

A communicative and pragmatic approach

Both verbal and written skills are developed. Our goal is to get our learners to act in French in everyday life: to understand an announcement in an airport, to fill out a form, to navigate on a website, to make a reservation, to write an e-mail, to speak during a meeting…

Grammar and vocabulary: a different approach 

Grammar and vocabulary are not neglected, on the contrary! Each course allows you to develop one or more language points and to apply them directly through oral and written expression activities. You work on them to use them in a concrete situation, so acquisitions are made gradually.

An action-oriented approach, authentic documents

Courses are organized around recent methods which follow the principles of the action-oriented approach and additional supports: videos, songs, advertisements, extracts from radio stations or newspapers to dive into the French-speaking reality. You are thus immersed in situations that prepare you to use the language in real situations to carry out social actions.

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

The levels of our courses follow the classification and recommendations of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages : A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2 .  You can easily measure your progress and know which diploma to take. By validating your level with the appropriate diploma, you can officially and sustainably assert your skills.

IFC Course Regulations

The French Institute of Cyprus (IFC) carries out its mission under the authority of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy in Nicosia. Registration for courses or training implies that students and their legal representatives undertake to honour their commitment in accordance with the current regulations.

1. Time schedule

Annual courses are organised over 30 weeks (from September to May).

In addition, intensive training courses are offered throughout the year depending on demand.

One teaching unit lasts 60, 90 or 120 minutes, according to the student’s level.

2. Registration

Registration is considered complete once the registration fees and the first installment are paid or the tuition amount is paid in full before the beginning of the course.

Placement test: Free

Annual courses may be paid in full at the time of registration or in 3 installments:

• 1^st installment: 1/3 of the amount upon registration and before the beginning of the course,
• 2^nd installment: 1/3 of the amount before December 1^st 2023,
• 3^rd installment: 1/3 of the amount before March 1^st 2024.

Intensive courses may be paid in full at the time of registration or in installments:

• levels A1|A2|Semi-intensif C1 in 2 installments:
  • 1^st installment: 1/2 of the amount upon registration and before the beginning of the course,
  • 2^nd installment: 1/2 of the amount the following month,
• levels B1|B2 in 3 installments:
  • 1^st installment: 1/3 of the amount upon registration and before the beginning of the course,
  • 2^nd installment: 1/3 of the amount the following month,
  • 3^rd installment: 1/3 of the amount 1 month before the end of the course.

3. Payment

Payment methods:

• by cash, check, or credit card at the premises of the French Institute of Cyprus,

Discount policy:

• 10% discount on annual courses if the tuition amount is paid in full at the time of registration,
• 15% discount to the 2^nd in the same family (20% discount to the 3^rd, 4^th, etc.). The discount is applied to the least expensive registration. Valid for first-degree relatives only. Proof may be requested.
• 15% discount to job seekers. Proof requested.

Reductions are not cumulative and only one of them (the greater) is granted at a time.

Pre-booking is recommended due to limited spots per class.
