Every year, during the Francophonie month, the French Institute of Cyprus in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus and the French speaking embassies organizes numerous events: conferences, concerts, exhibitions, film festival, school competition ....
A trip to Switzerland
From 1st to 20th Μarch - Online Quiz : Switzerland, a small, but strong country!
A cultural, literary and sociolinguistic discovery of an astonishing and inspiring Switzerland! Online game for high school students from Cyprus and students from the University of Cyprus.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners (3 high school students and 3 university students) on Thursday, March 29th at an evening dedicated to the discovery of Switzerland on the campus of Panepistimioupoli of the University of Cyprus.

Fin de Siècle French Music
Tuesday 6th Μarch - 6:30 pm – Nicosia, CVAR (25, Ermou Str.1017)
Music Talk’ A discussion with musical extracts on Fin de siècle French Music, followed by the screening of a 5 minute film by Michèle Cournoyer called Une artiste (1994).

Jacques Prévert : Paroles et autres ....

Salon d’Automne de Paris in Nicosia
From 13rd Μarch to 27th April 100 works of art, two places, two dates to remember
After the success of the exhibition within the framework of Pafos, European Capital of Culture 2017, which welcomed 4,000 visitors, the public will have the opportunity to discover 100 works of art by French and Cypriot artists from the Salon d'Automne de Paris. Two locations: at the French Institute of Cyprus and at The Collection Gallery (Nicosia, 15A Limassol Avenue).
Tuesday 13rd Μarch - 7.00 pm Opening of the exhibition at the French Institute of Cyprus (59, Strovolos Avenue, Strovolos). On this occasion, Mr. Theodoulos Gregoriou, visual artist, will give a conference in French and in Greek entitled Regards sur l'évolution des salons d'art contemporain à Paris.

Painting / sculpture, installation and live performance
From 16th to 18th Μarch - 12:00 am - 6:00 pm - Nicosia, Kastelliotissa (Agios Maronas Str. Pafos Gate)
Exhibition of art and murals by four French and Lebanese artists, Michèle Ansermet Papadopoulos, Adi Atassi, Mathieu Devavry and Elias Zaarour. This project is accompanied by poems highlighting the French language. Artists will demonstrate at the exhibition venue and interact with the public. The latterwill also have the opportunity to watch the painting of a Phoenician ship.
"Entre l’orient et l’occident, le bleu d’azur et le pourpre du murex dessinent les routes commerciales et culturelles du passé, revisité au présent par 4 artistes méditerranéens. Cette reflection d'identité, de mémoire et d'appartenance sera interprétée dans le travail des artistes en peinture/sculpture, installation et performance en live."

Quiz evening

The French section of the Language Center of the University of Cyprus organizes a QUIZ evening. Students will answer a variety of questions around the theme of Francophonie. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

The theme chosen for the 2018 Francophonie school competition was: Le patrimoine culturel francophone dans la Méditerranée, hier et aujourd’hui (The Francophone cultural heritage in the Mediterranean, yesterday and today).

Francophonie and motivation

Presentation, with interaction with the public, of the concept of motivation in relation with the Francophonie by Mr. Olivier Delhaye from the Department of French Language and Literature of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.
« Sans la francophonie, t’es parfois rien ! ». Au départ de cette assertion péremptoire, seront présentées de façon quelque peu décalée les raisons pour lesquelles ce qui est communément appelé « francophonie » peut constituer la source ou faire l’objet des motivations de tout un chacun.

Sur un air de Ramuz

Sur un air de Ramuz. A literary and musical performance with Sergio Belluz and the pianist Ioana Primus.Through texts and musical excerpts, the discovery of the Swiss writer Charles Ferdinand Ramuz (1878-1947), who has profoundly modified the literary landscape of his country.
In French with English subtitles. Durée: 45 minutes. The public will have the opportunity to exchange with the artist in English at the end of the show.
Organisé par l'Ambassade de Suisse. A cocktail will be offered by the Ambassador of Switzerland. Free entrance

Poetry Slam Cyprus, 2018

For its second edition, Poetry Slam Cyprus 2018 will host poets of slam poetry from Cyprus and abroad including Narcisse, a Swiss poet.

Francophonie evening at the University of Cyprus

Conference in French by Mr Sergio Belluz entitled Switzerland, a small, but strong country! (For all public) will focus on Switzerland's cultural and sociolinguistic peculiarities
Prizes will be awarded to the winners ( 3 high school students and 3 university students) of the Online Quiz : Switzerland, a small, but strong country!
