International Women's Day

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, celebrated on 8 March and highlighting the fight for women's rights and in particular for the reduction of inequalities compared to men, the French Institute of Cyprus and the Embassy of Romania have the pleasure to invite you to the screening of two short films, "Remarkable women of Romania" and a documentary from French director Frédérique Bedos, "Women and men".                 

Monday 9 March 2020 - 8:00pm - Cultural Center of Ayion Omologiton (Ierodiakonou Mansion 1, 1080 Lefkosia). Free Entrance.

 

Remarkable women of Romania. Two short films, 7 & 3 minutes, realized by the Association Professional Women Network – Romania (2020 - with subtitles in French and in English).

These two short films are an introduction to The Museum of Remarkable Women, a Professional Women's Network Romania (PWN) digital project honouring courageous leadership of Romanian women and their contribution to the national identity with their outstanding work in science, education, politics, sports, arts, and culture, but its goal is also to inspire new generations with real models of female leadership.

Screened at the UN (in Geneva and New-York), at UNESCO, at Matignon, at the Assemblée Nationale and at the COP22, selected at the Cannes Film Festival in the Positive Cinema Week category and was honoured with the Silver Award at the 2016 Deauville Green Award. Women and Men is the reference film on equality between women and men in the world.

By exploring women’s rights violations from historical, economic and cultural points of view, this comprehensive investigation, led by Frédérique Bedos and her team, gives an overview of all the issues affected by these inequalities by giving the flour to international experts.
